ISMS and ISO 27001 Readiness Assessment

Background

Client is a privately held software company providing tools for tax information reporting. Its principal product is a desktop solution for filing 1099, 1098, 5498 and W-2 tax forms either electronically or magnetically.

The Engagement

HotSkills worked with Client to conduct an ISMS Readiness Assessment in order to evaluate Client's current information security posture and to provide them with a roadmap to successful certification through the ISO 27001 certification process.

Client has a desire to utilize ISO 27001 certification as a marketing differentiator as well as providing assurance of a high security standard within the company for customers of Client.

The Approach

HotSkills consultants worked closely with Client staff in knowledge transfer concerning the international standards and the compliance certification process. In addition, staff provided specific workshops for Client staff on data classification and handling, risk assessment/management, and security process development.

HotSkills also provided Client with a Gap Analysis and proposed a detailed project plan (roadmap) for them to follow to help them achieve ISO 27001 certification readiness over an approximately 6 month time period.

The Result

HotSkills provided Client with a documented Gap Analysis and Project plan (roadmap) for achieving compliance to the standard. We also provided knowledge transfer, templates and tools to help the Client staff begin their security process development and documentation work on their own.
